Moral of the story: no antivirus software or security precautions will save you from yourself. Make sure you do not give out personal information if it is not completely necessary, and only if you can verify who you are giving that information to.

OTTAWA - The Liberal Party announced its support for the principle of net neutrality in the House of Commons yesterday.
“The issue of net neutrality is a global one,” said Mr. Garneau. “Internet management should be neutral and not be permitted for anti-competitive behaviour nor should it target certain websites, users, providers or legitimate software applications. We must protect the openness and freedom of the internet, and maintain competition to spur innovation, improve service levels and reduce costs to users.”
October 22nd seems to be the date Microsoft has chosen to launch its newest operating system, Windows 7. I’m not entirely sure what to expect of it, after the whole Vista debacle — it looks similar to Vista, it seems to build upon the underlying Vista code, performs many functions like Vista (but, of course, adds more functions and features), and overall feels to me like Vista version 2.
But, maybe I’m wrong. One thing’s for sure, though: we’ll be finding out just how well it handles this October.
Apple releases the anticipated 10.5.7 update. It’s mostly a security/compatibility improvement update, so I’d definitely recommend using Software Update and grabbing this. Nothing wrong with a more stable OS!
An interesting article by Stephen P. Anderson, going over how people, by nature, find aesthetically pleasing interfaces to work better. At least in a psychological sense.
He also delves into the concept of how aesthetics affect cognition. It’s a really interesting point that many people might not have otherwise considered.
And so, America is entering the 21st century in the technological field. Oh, how I wish Canada would step it up a notch…

It’s an interesting article, made all the more entertaining due to the fact that Farhad also dislikes the new design. I also have some gripes, like how Facebook is trying too hard to be like Twitter, but in the end most of the complaints are coming from people that just don’t like seeing their most-used site changed in any form.
